Chopper airlifts backpacker with spinal injuries

A 23-YEAR old Danish backpacker was taken from the Kroombit Farm Stay to Rockhampton after falling off a horse on Saturday.

She fell and injured her back just before 11am whilst mustering goats.

When the RACQ Capricorn Rescue helicopter arrived a QAS paramedic provided initial treatment and she was in the ambulance.

She was assessed by the CareFlight doctor and Inflight Intensive Care Paramedic.

The patient is believed to have suffered suspected spinal injuries.

She was transferred on to a vacuum mattress then loaded onto the aircraft.
