Cherry picking Titans, or so it seems

AN angry Daly Cherry-Evans has done his best to assure the Gold Coast Titans he would not backflip on his four-year $5 million contract.

Cherry-Evans held a one-sided media conference about weekend reports he was set to change his mind and remain with Manly after the Titans had trumpeted his signing from 2016.

The Manly halfback was not all that convincing as he delivered his response to media speculation, refusing to answer any questions from reporters.

The 26-year-old, who also said he was upset the media invaded his family's privacy over the weekend, opened the interview with: "To put everything to bed, there has been no changes to my current contract situation.

"I went through that process seven weeks ago and there is absolutely nothing to report, and from what I can see, there will be nothing to report. I understand speculation will continue until round 13, but from my end there is nothing to report and I don't think there will be anything to report until the end of the season in regards to changes to my contract."

Meanwhile, Parramatta has confirmed the signing of Newcastle hard-man Beau Scott for the next three seasons after the Knights agreed to release the back-rower from his contract beyond season 2015 on compassionate grounds.

Newcastle chief executive Matt Gidley said the club had done everything it could to retain the 30-year-old.
