Challenge means a rush of blood

ADDING up numbers is hardly pulse-raising work, so staff at Financial Framework Wealth Advisors in Gladstone give themselves challenges each month.

This month, they’ve turned up to the Gladstone Blood Bank, opposite the Gladstone Hospital Emergency Department, to pump some of their own blood – and it’s all in the cause of giving blood.

Sharon Chapman, Tracy Connolly, Stacey Jopson and Dianne Ferris were all first-time donors, with Ms Chapman at the helm organising the challenge.

“We just try to do a challenge every month so we thought we’d do blood donation this month,” she said.

Ms Ferris said challenges included going without fried food for a month and the Botanic to Bridge last month.

Ms Chapman said giving blood was something her father had always done and three years ago he died from cancer after battling the disease for two years, regularly requiring blood.

For Ms Jopson, the story was much the same with her grandparents who had cancer.

“I’ve always wanted to donate, but never had,” she said.

“I don’t like needles.”

The group also managed to encourage Harbour City Accounting’s Alicia Hunt into the challenge, although she was a bit camera shy.
