Centrals pull surprise upset

IN the Cap League Division,Centrals defeated Capricorn Coast 2-0 in what was a surprise for Centrals.

Berserker also lost 2-0 in its match with Clinton.

Centrals coach Aaron Jeffery said his team had played particularly well.

“It was a tight game for the first hour and could have gone any way,” he said.

“Centrals dominated play for the last half hour scoring two goals to clinch the game.”

Dave Longden played his normal very solid game and Zac Munster scored both the goals.

“Zac’s first touch of the ball scored a goal.”

Garth Lawrie performed well in the centre midfield and the whole side worked well together as a team.

“We are just outside of the top four and have now moved up the ladder one rung,” Jeffery said.

“I’m really happy with the way the guys have played the last few weeks.

“We have a very young team and beating some of the higher-ranked teams puts us in good stead for the rest of the season.

“Our consistency is starting to come through,” a very proud coach affirmed.

The points ladder for the Cap league stands at Cap Coast 26, Frenchville 22, Nerimbera 22, Yaralla 19, Clinton 19, Parkana 19, Centrals 19, Bluebirds 17,

Berserker 11, Southside 9 and Wildcats 0.
