Central set to keep opposition in check
SOCCER: Central FC is keen to keep the pressure on the opposition in the CQ Premiers League, with Bluebirds in its sights tomorrow.
Central will want to keep on winning after handing out a 8-1 drubbing to Southside United last weekend.
Central coach Joel Maudsley said the players were working hard on maintaining the team's form.
"We are playing Bluebirds this weekend and want to keep the momentum going forward," he said.
"We can't catch third but can't lose fourth place.
"Our last game against Southside was a good one and it was great to get some goals.
"There is a bye coming up which will be good because it will enable us to rest some players with injuries (and) semi-finals coming up."
Central reserves are in a similar position but in a much tighter points condition.
"The reserves are in fourth position and on 28 points," Maudsley said.
"Bluebirds (are) on 26 points and they play each other this weekend.
"So it's a must win for both sides really.
"Points for reserves will be valuable this time of the season with semi-finals just around the corner.
"Even though Division One has an upcoming bye, the reserves still have a game to play and need to keep on winning to stay in the top four."
Central Division One play Bluebirds at 7pm tomorrow at Sun Valley Oval.
Central Division Two play Bluebirds tomorrow at the same venue at 5pm.
