Central secures fourth place on ladder with 8-1 victory
SOCCER : Central FC turned a dominant display of goal-scoring prowess to be run away 8-1 winners over Southside United.
In a game that turned spiteful as it progressed with cards given and players sent off, the Central players kept a cool professional head to show they will be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming semi-finals.
Central coach Joel Maudsley had praise for the team and wanted them to keep up the positive attitude.
"The boys played well and put the game away and this win will help set us in the top four of the competition ladder," Maudsley said.
"They (players) are stepping up for the big games and Ben Turner scored a triple with Liam Kirk chiming in as well."
Central had dominance of the game, starting from the backs with Adam Eiseman supporting the righthand build-up play to help Central net several of its goals.
In Central's previous game it came away with a tight 1-0 win over Frenchville SC.
"The way the goals have been scored were nice finishes and to put a team away like that and we have been wanting to win well," Maudsley said.
"With a win like that we and in the position we are we can maybe rest a couple of players with injuries and give it to Bluebirds next weekend."
Central play its next game against Bluebirds at home at Sun Valley Oval starting at 7pm.
