Central looking for strong finish for semi-finals

SOCCER: Central FC are looking to finish off the season with a strong result after this weekend's bye to rest up players for the upcoming CQ Premier League Division One semi-finals.

Last weekend Central had a 2-2 draw against Bluebirds and coach Joel Maudsley said the team will have to pick the game up a notch.

"Bluebirds are a quality side that have been challenging for a final berth all year and we dominated large portions of the play and had a number of chances to score.

"I was impressed that despite this the players dug deep when we went 2-1 down to come back and get the draw."

Maudsley said it was good the Central reserve grade squad was holding its own in the lower grade competition.

"The premier two side had a victory on the weekend against Bluebirds and are five points clear in fourth position with two games to play," Maudsley said.
