CAT POWER, has cancelled her tour of Australia and New Zealand, including her Lismore show.

Cat Power was announced to perform at the Lismore Star Court Theatre on Saturday, February 13.

The singer's management confirmed she suffers from Hereditary Angioedema (HAE), a potentially fatal rare blood disease that causes swelling around the throat, oesophagus and internal organs.

"Its the same condition which caused her to postpone some European dates in 2012 - all of which were rescheduled," the tour cancellation release said.

"This is the first time in an 18 year touring history with Australia that Chan has been forced to postpone any shows and she is determined too make it back ASAP and in good health".

Management confirmed all tickets for this tour will remain valid for the rescheduled dates "which will be advised shortly".

Cat Power, also known as Georgia-born singer- songwriter Chan Marshall, was returning to the country for a series of intimate theatre-only performances.

Cat Power was originally the name of Chan's first band, but it has since become her moniker as a solo artist.

Chan has been a long-time fan of Australian audiences, dating back to 1997.
