WATCH: Cartoon helps tackle Gladstone's rubbish problem

AN animated video has been released by Gladstone Regional Council as part of its 'Don't dump in my backyard' anti-littering campaign.

The four colourful cartoon characters not only put their rubbish in the bin but head to the sort and save recycling plant to get the most out of their waste.

The cartoon is designed to encourage children to think about keeping the region clean in the future.

And it seems to be working with council staff reporting "a noticeable decrease" in illegally dumped rubbish in the past three months compared to the first three months of 2015.
