Hockey carnival proves to be a big success in Gladstone

GLADSTONE has put its best foot forward on and off the hockey field this weekend, performing well in the CQ Zone challenge and hosting the event to perfection.

A great weekend weather wise was backed up by the running of the tournament, which featured 21 teams competing across two days.

Including six Gladstone teams, the competition was a success with about 300 happy hockey players leaving the ground after the final play.

Gladstone best performers were the men's team, who triumphed over Mackay in the final match of the tournament.

The big winner was Rockhampton, who took home four of the six division title, while Mackay and the locals each won one.

A CQ Zone top 16 was named for each of the junior divisions, with 17 Gladstone players making their mark and being included.
