Kin Kora car wash back on agenda at council's meeting

A PERSISTENT developer whose bid to build a car wash was rejected by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in 2013 will receive a final decision about the application at today's Gladstone Regional Council meeting.

The GRC general meeting agenda says the proponent is seeking approval to build a car wash near the corner of Dawson Hwy and Olsen Ave, Kin Kora.

The site would be accessed from a road frequented by airport users.

The car wash would include two automatic wash bays, a dog wash, 11 vacuum bays, an office and vehicle parking.

A report that details issues including how the development will interact with the airport safety zone and local environment will be discussed.

Councillors will discuss whether the development should be approved.

Also on the agenda for the Gladstone Regional Council's fortnightly meeting:

  • The formation of a new Innovation, Sustainability and Opportunity Advisory Committee that will identify projects to benefit the Gladstone region in these areas
  • Proposed changes to street names
  • Commercial infrastructure charges in light of a request that their calculation be reviewed
  • A proposed new local law on animal management
