FIREFIGHTERS rushed to extinguish a car fire in a Toowoomba street today.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services received a call from the public that a car was on fire in Baker St, Toowoomba about 11am today.

A firefighter crew wasn't far away and arrived on the scene almost immediately.

The fire in the sedan was under control by 11.11am.

A primary search of the vehicle was conducted by the crew and all persons were safely accounted for.

Toowoomba Police also attended the scene of the fire.
