Captain Planet, he's a hero! In a film by Leo DiCaprio

CAPTAIN Planet is a hero, who -- like Leonard DiCaprio -- wants to bring pollution down to zero.

Fitting, then, that the Academy Award-winning actor is preparing to produce a movie with the green-haired cartoon crusader.

The cartoon series Captain Planet and the Planeteers ran for six years from 1990, and featured five teenagers summoned by goddess of the earth Gaia.

They worked together to fight pollution and protect the environment.

The group could also summon superhero Captain Planet by combining their powers.
 

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting Paramount and DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions intend to bring Glenn Powell of Scream Queens on to help write the script.

DiCaprio has a long history of standing for environmental causes.

He founded the Leonardo DiCaprio foundation in 1998 specifically for that purpose and has donated US$59.6m to 65 more than organisations since.
