Meet the locals: Calliope teen a scooter fanatic

TEENAGER Jay Lanzon has been home schooled since he was six.

Every morning, as a daily routine, Jay does chores, school work and rides his scooter.

"Home schooling gave me freedom," Jay said.

"I have a lot more time on my hands and with that spare time I ride."

Now 17 and approaching the end of his last year of school, Jay is still unsure of his future ambitions.

As a kid growing up in Calliope there wasn't a lot to do other than play bowls, he says.

When he was 10, Jay was quite the tennis player, playing for five years.

"I finished up with tennis then I started riding scooters. I love getting out and doing something that makes me happy," he said.
