Calliope pool remains closed as more problems are found

THE Calliope Community Swimming Pool will remain closed because of further mechanical issues with the chlorination system.

Gladstone Regional Council closed the pool on Thursday after the chlorine system malfunctioned.

Major work is required to repair the system, with contractors to start work on Monday.

The pool is expected to reopen on Thursday.

The council, as lessee of the pool from Education Queensland, said it would ensure the chlorination system functioned correctly before it was satisfied the pool was safe for residents to use.

The council has thanked residents for their patience and understanding while the works are carried out.
