Calliope to host Wolfe Brothers for flood appeal performance

TASSIE boys The Wolfe Brothers will rock the Bulls and Bands Flood Appeal at the Calliope Rodeo Grounds on Saturday.

The country-rock band has recently released their debut album, 'It's On', after finishing second on Channel Seven's Australia's Got Talent.

The band of five is fronted by brothers Nick and Tom Wolfe and Tom said the TV show is one of their major highlights.

"We never went in to win so to come second was amazing," he said.

The brothers grew up in a musical home.

"Our granddad had a Wolfe family orchestra," Tom said.

"He used to take a bus-load of people to his gig."

Playing in Calliope is the band's first time to the region.

"They're always the best gigs," Tom said.

"You get to meet new people and play to a new audience."

The event is raising money to help flood victims, and Tom said, like the Tasmanian bushfires, they want to help out.

Event co-ordinator Desley O'Grady said the event had raised $85,000 last week, and is aiming for $100,000.

The family fun day and markets start at 9am and The Wolfe Brothers will play at 7pm.

Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children and $25 for a family.
