Callemondah animal pound to begin operations

GLADSTONE Regional Council's upgraded pound facility at Callemondah will begin receiving animals for impoundment on Monday.

The $1.43 million expansion and refurbishment of the council's old pound site off Hanson Road, Callemondah, is required after private operator arrangements at the Brendonna pound conclude.

Animals now housed at Brendonna will be transferred to the Callemondah site on Monday with additional impounded animals also to be sheltered there.

The collection or surrender of animals by the public can be conducted from 3pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday, after payment has been made at a council administration office and upon presentation of the receipt.

Collection of impounded animals or surrender services will not be available to the public on weekends.

As with the Brendonna facility, the new pound will serve only as a housing and collection point and payments will not be processed onsite.

For more information phone Council's Regulatory Services on 4970 0700.
