Buttered hubby creamed by wife in tantrum

POLICE called to a noisy disturbance at a Gladstone home arrived to find a woman's husband smeared with butter in an apparent domestic blue.

The 40-year-old woman was arrested after admitting she threw butter at him.

The woman was already subject to a Domestic Violence Order preventing her from harassing or committing any bad behaviour toward him.

Brought before Gladstone Magistrates Court she pleaded guilty to contravening a Domestic Violence Order on February 22.

Prosecutor Sgt Barry Stevens said police officers were called to a house in Clinton at 1.30pm that day and found the man with butter smeared on clothes and also on the floor.

He had also suffered scratches.

"She says there was an argument and she threw butter at him because he wanted to leave the house," Sgt Stevens said.

Lawyer Jun Pepito said the woman was a home maker but the relationship was now over as a result of the butter incident.

Magistrate Penelope Hay said the offence was at the lower end of the scale but was still serious as the woman was subject to an order of the court.

"You were demonstrating a tantrum," Ms Hay said.

"You cannot control someone else's behaviour (just because they want to leave).

"And you have a history of being unable to behave appropriately." Ms Hay fined her $600.
