Long-time driver Butler wins on home track at Gladstone

DENIS Butler began kart racing nearly 15 years ago. Little did he know back then that what he started would turn into an extremely successful team of drivers in Gladstone.

None of the team has had more success than Butler himself, though, and the Tag 125 Heavy driver cleaned up again on the weekend.

After finishing second in the Rockhampton leg of the Two Track Challenge on Saturday, at Gladstone Butler was able to lead the way on his local tarmac on Sunday.

"He won Saturday, Colin Palmer, but I won Sunday," Butler said.

Butler's whole team was on fire in the Two Track Challenge, with wins coming from a number of the drivers.

"Josh has had two wins, Rory has had two places but is leading, and Keith is running P3," Butler said.

Although the drivers are keen to win wherever they go, Butler is most anxious for the state championships in June.

"We are getting ready for the state titles at Proserpine in June," Butler said.

"I won a Queensland title a couple of years ago here in Gladstone. I was the first of us in karts. Both my boys race now."

The titles may be easier than ever this year for the Butlers, with a new trailer holding all their gear.
