WHEN Tyler Matheson, eight, slipped and fell on the bus, he ended up with a gash in his shin which needed twelve stitches.

But instead of the bus driver calling his parents and doing an incident report, he allegedly told the boy to get off the bus with his friends and go home with them.

Tyler's dad Troy Matheson said he was appalled at the reaction of the driver.

"They stopped at a stop and he (Tyler) got up to put his port on the rack and the bus took off when he was walking back to his seat and he slipped and his leg went underneath a seat," Troy said.

"When the doctor was cleaning it out, you could actually see his shin bone."

Tyler is now refusing to catch the bus to school and Troy said he "doesn't blame him".

"They dropped him off at a totally different bus stop," he said.

"You could see how bad it was, he had blood all over his leg - it was bad."

Troy said he was annoyed the driver had no incident report and had not contacted him or Tyler's mum.

Tyler said it doesn't "really" hurt anymore; it definitely hurt at the time.

"I slipped on a bit of water, then I got back up and walked to the back seat and then my friend, yeah he noticed that I had a big cut in my leg," Tyler said of the incident.

"I showed the bus driver and he said to get off at their house."

With five stitches on the inside of his leg and seven on the outside, Tyler's mum said he definitely had a story to tell at school the next day.

Troy said he had contacted the bus company and gone in to see them but had little luck.

The bus company in question failed to return multiple phone calls and emails requesting comment.

READER'S REACTION:

Lyn Laskus - The driver probably didn't realized that the boy had hurt himself

Amber Moore - It is stated that the boy showed the bus driver

Lyn Laskus - I just read the story. I wonder if anyone has asked what the bus companies policy is when someone injuries themselves on the bus? Awful situation. I always managed to miss the bus when I was a kid. I couldn't handle all the noise and the bullying, so I would run the 5k and beat the bus to school and home and the bus driver would give me the thumps up and I saved the money. When I was a teenager going to work , it was still the same bus driver and one day he got me to run to a house in 3inch heels to check on the old lady who normally got the same bus and wasn't at the bus stop. And I did it in a mini skirt. In our day the bus driver knew where everyone lived.

Liza Jane Beattie - Omg why not call an ambulance to pick him up

Kaylene Vanderwolf - This is an absolute disgrace.. I hope the driver is repremanded accordingly.
