Bus driver rams, kills at least 38

AT LEAST 38 people were killed and 17 injured when a bus ploughed into revellers at a Rara music festival outside the northern Haitian city of Gonaives on Sunday. The long-haul bus from Cap Haitien to the capital, Port Au Prince, ran over two pedestrians. While trying to get away, the driver rammed into a band of musicians performing in the street festival. He then rammed two other bands, killing 36. An angry crowd attacked the bus and tried to burn it before police rescued passengers, a civil defence spokesman said. The bus driver fled the scene.
