Brothers down Yaralla with loss of only one wicket

GLADSTONE Brothers have now beaten all three teams in the local A-grade cricket competition, with the latest victim defending premier Yaralla.

Set 181 by the home side, Brothers chased it down with relative ease, cruising to the total with the loss of only one wicket.

It is one of many occasions that the top order of the Brothers side has done damage to bowling attacks.

"We got to 1/117 off the first 20 overs and that meant we didn't have to take any risks," captain Matt Shallcross said.

"Then we had wickets in hand and we got them easily," he said.

Brothers' good bowling performance helped, limiting the ability of Yaralla to put runs on the board.

By keeping the host to less than three runs an over halfway through the innings, Brothers' chase could have been harder if not for their bowling pressure.

  • Ryan Keating 36
  • Harry Fordyce 30
