Past brothers juniors off to a great start for season
WITH cameras working overtime and parents cheering the enthusiastic players on, the Past Brothers Junior Rugby League Football Club (PBJRL) under-6 age group played its first game of the season in a development day on Saturday.
The under-7s through the under-12s, who play on Saturdays primarily at Briffney Creek fields, all had great games last weekend.
The under 14, 15 and 16 teams have commenced playing on Marley Brown Oval on Friday nights.
It is a move that coaches, managers and parents have given positive feedback to the club about, especially due to the grandstand atmosphere.
Whilst the under-18s remain in the junior league, they are now playing before the Brothers Seniors Reserves and A-grade games.
This provides a great opportunity for the senior players to watch the upcoming talent and the under-18s to be inspired from the experience of the senior teams.
The club has a major fundraiser, the Home Ground Villages Race Day, planned for June 29, at the Gladstone Turf Club.
Tickets will be on sale at the end of May.
With the committee of new coaching coordinator Dean Jones, president Jayson Oakes and vice-president Tony Leeson as well as the support of new and returning coaches, managers, members and club sponsors, the PBJRL has a strong sense of success for the 2013 season.
