Fabian lead goal scorer for Saints after 5 year break
DANNY Fabian returned to Aussie Rules this year for one reason - his brother Aaron took over the coaching of the BITS Saints.
After five years out of the game, it was a shock to the system for Fabian getting back into the sport.
It didn't take him long to find his feet, though.
Fabian leads the goal scoring for the Saints, who drew level with Yeppoon Swans with a win on the weekend.
In a low scoring and wet game, BITS defeated Yeppoon by 27 points, Fabian kicking three goals to add to his 12 so far.
Fabian said BITS had a point to prove after a thrashing at Yeppoon earlier in the season.
"We came out and proved we weren't going to get bullied like we did up there," he said.
"By the end of the third quarter they were looking for us and waiting for a hiding when they got the ball."
A big second quarter set up the win for the Saints, kicking six goals to open a margin.
The lead held steady the rest of the way home.
Fabian said there was urgency across the field once the Saints had the ball in the forward 50.
"Our back line pressure and centre pressure and our forwards were top notch," he said.
With his younger brother Aaron still out injured, Fabian is enjoying the need to kick more goals.
He is also happy with how the year is going and the fact no tension has come about with his brother as coach.
The only step left is to win a premiership.
"I thought I would give a title one last crack, so far so good," he said.
