Bride-to-be drops more than 50kg ahead of wedding
IT SHOULD have been a joyous moment for 21-year-old Grace Peacock when she and fiancé Dan Newsome , 22, attempted to rehearse him carrying her through the threshold of their home ahead of their vows.
When he was unable to lift her 115kg frame, she was devastated.
She told The Mirror UK: "He tried to pick me up and just couldn't".
"He tried to brush it off and asked for a hug instead because he knew it would have got to me.
"And I tried to make a joke about not wanting to be dragged over the threshold but it really upset me."
That moment crystallised in Grace's a determination to lose weight.
She would drop an incredible 52kg in almost two years, plenty of time before their planned wedding in 2016.
She has halved her body weight and now tips the scales at a measly 62kg.
"I feel fantastic," she said.
"I feel like a completely different person and, best of all, Dan can pick me up easily!"
Grace describes gives credit for her transformation to weight loss to joining a "Slimming World" group in her town.
This year she won the organisation's 2014 Woman of the Year award.
