PHOTOS: 285 homes without power after truck 'jack-knifed'
THE truck that jack-knifed and crashed into a power pole on Landing Rd at 1.40pm resulted in the power being cut to 285 homes.
The areas affected by the power outage are Mount Larcom, Targinnie, Yarwun and West Stowe.
Ergon spokesman Rod Rehbein said the power pole was knocked clean off the wires.
The wires were live but remained at a safe height and did not come into contact with the ground.
He said work was already underway to try and restore power to the homes "sooner rather than later".
But he said the priority was to isolate the damaged area.
EMERGENCY crews have re-opened Landings Rd after a truck hit a power pole on Landings Rd.
The truck -- a dog and trailer -- ran off the road, bringing down the power pole, with emergency crews racing to free the driver as live wires were scattered across the ground.
Ergon technicians cut power to the area.
Traffic was banked on either side of the crash, about 0.5km from the Mt Larcom turn-off.
At least one power line has been brought down and emergency crews have been warned to move around the scene of the crash with caution.
Police have blocked off Landings Rd while emergency crews work to extricate the driver.

EMERGENCY crews are rushing to the scene of a truck crash at Fisherman's Landing, near Cement Australia.
Paramedics have been advised to take caution as there are live wires at the scene, suggesting a vehicle has hit a power pole.
It's understood Ergon technicians have also been called to the scene.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics haven't yet arrived on the scene and the condition of those involved remains unknown.
