UPDATE: Pilot in 'serious' condition at hospital after Gladstone region crash

WHAT WE KNOW:

- Emergency services, RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service called to aicraft crash at Raglan

- Pilot sustained lacerations to the forehead, and some broken bones

- It is believed he crashed into trees after having issues during take-off

- He has been taken to the Rockhampton Hospital

UPDATE Monday 10.40am:

THE 50 year old pilot involved in yesterday's aircraft crash is still at the Rockhampton Hospital.

He is in a "serious but stable condition".

The man suffered a broken arm and humerus and lacerations to the forehead.

Emergency services on the scene said he was "very lucky" considering the extensive damage to the plane.

He crashed into trees after having issues during take-off in his Ibis light aircraft.

UPDATE Sunday 4.50pm:

RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue senior air crewman Nathan Triffett described the pilot involved in today's crash as a "very lucky man".

The crew of five flew the 50-year-old pilot to the Rockhampton Hospital this morning, arriving at 10.30am.

The pilot remains there in a stable condition.

"He's obviously very lucky when you have a look at the condition of the plane it was in it was very damaged," Mr Triffett said.

"The aircraft had extensive damage to the wings, tail boom of the aircraft and around the engine area where it contacted a tree."

The pilot was the only person on board when he crashed the Ibis aircraft into trees.

UPDATE 11.35am:

A PILOT involved in an aircraft crash had a lucky escape after the plane came down and crashed into trees at Raglan.

There was reports the pilot told the property's neighbour, who was also on the scene, what he had for breakfast, indicating to emergency services he was in a relatively stable condition.

Gladstone Ambulance acting senior operations supervisor Alistair Vagg said there was "significant damage" to the aircraft.

"Anytime a plane crashes there is potential for significant injuries," he said.

The pilot was able to get out of the aircraft before emergency services arrived with the help of bystanders.

He has been taken to the Rockhampton Hospital.

UPDATE 10.46am: 

THE PILOT of a light aircraft that has crashed on a private property in Raglan had issues while taking off which led to the crash.

The pilot, a man in his 50s who was the only occupant of the plane, crashed among the trees soon after take-off.

He suffered a fractured right arm and humerus, lacerations to the head, spinal pand "potential internal injuries", a paramedic on the scene said.

But he had a relatively "lucky" escape considering the severity of the crash, the paramedic said.

The pilot has now been airlifted to Rockhampton Base Hospital by the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue.

UPDATE 10.17am: 

PARAMEDICS, firefighters, and the rescue helicopter have all been called to the scene of a light aircraft crash on a private property in Raglan.

The pilot, a man in his 50s who was the only occupant of the aircraft at the time of the crash, has been treated for head and arm injuries.

The man has been placed into the rescue helicopter.

THERE are reports a rescue helicopter is on its way to an aircraft crash at Raglan off Gentle Annie Rd.

Initial reports are that paramedics are on scene treating the pilot, who is already out of the plane.
