Brazilians to go nuts in front of home crowd for ASP Tour

THE ASP Tour is off to Brazil next week, and I can't wait to see it.

I have a feeling that the Brazilian surfers will be hell-bent on delivering the title to their home fans in Rio de Janeiro, and I think it will be one of the most compelling events all season.

The country seems to be already in party mode with the FIFA World Cup coming up shortly, and the young emerging surfers can ride that wave of emotion and support.

But at the same time they will be reminding the country of the sport of surfing.

One of the boys who has reason to want to take the title is Adriano De Souza, who finished runner-up last year.

Having won the title in 2011 at the Billabong Rio Pro, De Souza is down in sixth on the rankings, and at 27 years of age he has every reason to fight his way to the top.

He may just sneak under the radar as well, with a lot of attention on Gabriel Medina and of course the party atmosphere in Brazil.

The boys will be relaxed over in Rio, with plenty of fun.

A Brazilian winner would be a nice fit for the country this year, so expect De Souza, Medina and Miguel Pupo to be flat out from the start.

While the tour makes its way to South America, I myself have found a little beach shack to stay in down in Coffs Harbour, so I am enjoying a couple of feet of surf when I can get it down in New South Wales.

I will be keeping a keen eye on Agnes Water for my return, and of course the ASP when it rolls around.
