Boyne Smelters to carry out controlled burn

BOYNE Smelters will carry out a controlled burn on Boyne Island this weekend.

The burn is part of BSL's bushfire risk management plan to reduce the hazard of bushfires.

It will be carried out with Boyne Island Tannum Sands Rural Fire Brigade and the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service.

The target area for the controlled burn is behind Katandra St, Benowa Court, Shara Court and Alkina Cres.

The bike path to the smelter and beach access off Handley Drive may be restricted at times.

The burn will take place between 7am and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday, depending on weather conditions and wind speed/direction.
