UPDATE: Rocky Police investigating high school rape claims

UPDATE FRIDAY 6AM: ROCKHAMPTON police have confirmed they are investigating the alleged rape of a male student at a Rockhampton high school in July.

The victim claims he was raped by a Year 12 student in the toilets of the local school, which has 570 students enrolled.

Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow of the Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch confirmed the serious matter was under investigation.

"The Child Protection Unit is investigating," Det Insp Shadlow said.

"These things take time; it is a delicate situation."

INITIAL: A BOY'S allegations that he was raped by a Year 12 student at a Rockhampton high school are being investigated by police.

The father of the boy has told News Corp his son was told to "pull his pants down" by the senior student before being assaulted from behind in the toilets.

"The kid has tried to kill himself twice in the last 14 days. We're at a loss as to what else we can do," the father told The Courier-Mail.

"He was followed into the toilet, made to pull his pants down and raped.

"Now we're having to do medical tests and shipping him in and out of hospital because he is bleeding from the bowel and having flashbacks when he goes back to school - but we need to have tests done for the legal side of things as well."

The Courier-Mail reports the Year 12 student was expelled from the school once staff were told of the alleged incident.
