POLICE have confirmed the death of a 12-year-old boy at a Wurdong Heights property on Tuesday afternoon.

He died as a result of injuries suffered in a quad bike accident.

The boy, believed to be from Gympie, was found on the property at 1.30pm on Tuesday, and died on the scene as a result of the crash.

Police would not confirm names or further details because the incident occurred on private property and they wished to protect the grieving family, but they did confirm they were preparing a report for the coroner.

A 15-year-old girl also was injured in a separate quad bike accident at Biloela on Tuesday afternoon.

RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service transported the girl to Rockhampton Hospital.

She had unknown internal injuries and a suspected c-spine injury.
