Monday Male loves hometown, aims to box in Olympic Games

HE'S a senior elite boxer with his eyes on making it to the Olympic Games.

Liam Nicolson, 19, has been boxing for 13 years, starting when he was about six.

"It's a pretty challenging sport both mentally and physically," Liam said.

"It's just you in the ring. You can't look to teammates for anything.

"I love it."

Liam grew up in Tannum Sands and works his boxing around work as a diesel fitter apprentice.

"A lot of people don't really like it here. They can't wait to get out, but yeah I love it," Liam said.

"All my mates and family are here. It's a pretty good town. Everyone knows everyone."

Liam will begin his ascent to his Olympic goals at the end of this year, trialling for the Commonwealth Games.
