Bowditch puts himself in Pebble Beach mix
PEREGIAN Beach's Steven Bowditch is poised to pull off one of the best results of his career.
The 30-year-old shared sixth place yesterday at the halfway mark of the $6.6 million AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
He carded a second round of two-under par 70 to be five-under overall, just four strokes adrift of the co-leaders, Americans Jimmy Walker and Jordan Spieth.
Bowditch is competing in his 105th event on the US PGA Tour.
His best result came at the Greenbrier Classic in Virginia last year, when he was runner-up behind Sweden's Jonas Blix.
That delivered him a $416,000 payday.
His second-best result, a ninth placing, also came at Pebble Beach, in 2011.
SUNRISE Beach's Katherine Kirk (nee Hull) was in a tie for 19th place after the third round of the Australian Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast yesterday.
She compiled a three-over par 76 to be two-under overall and 10 shots behind the leader, American Cheyene Woods.
Sarah Jane Smith and Tamara Johns, also from the Sunshine Coast, were in 27th place and 64th spot respectively.
