Book review: Circle of Silence

BOOK: Circle of Silence
AUTHOR: Carol M. Tanzman
PUBLISHER: Harlequin Teen
RRP: $19.99
IT'S Valerie's turn to run Campus News and she's put together a fabulous team of people who can break stories wide open.
She knows there's a story waiting to be told at Washington Irving High, but she just needs to find a lead because a "circle of silence" keeps the secret society under wraps.
No one knows its members, agenda or initiation secrets - until a student lands in hospital under strange circumstances.
Is it a coven of witches, a demented student? Whoever, the secret society's agenda is increasingly dangerous.
And Valerie and her team become the society's targets when they try to uncover the truth.
I really enjoyed this book. Valerie is a strong heroine and all the characters were relatable and wonderfully contributed to a story that is part mystery, part romance and part thriller.
For those who like a bit of romance, there's Valerie's ex-boyfriend Jagger who dropped her last year and is trying to ruin her year on Campus News.
Carol Tanzman's first book Dancergirl is set in the same school as Circle of Silence, but you don't need to read it first to enjoy Circle of Silence.
