Book shares the diversity of Curtis Island

GLADSTONE Conservation Council wants you to fall in love with Curtis Island and they have released a book to show you why.

The 'Snapshots of Curtis Island' was released at Ecofest and shows the beauty, diversity and importance of Curtis Island.

Most of the photos in the book were taken by Cheryl Watson and the book was compiled by Ros Westman from HPD Creative.

Mrs Watson believes most people from Gladstone have no idea what they have on their doorstep.

"The purpose was to show the general public the uniqueness and diversity of our Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Island," she said.

"Hopefully in the future if the Government tries to put any more industry on it people will stand up to protect it.

"While there should not have been any industry on the island it has happened but let's make sure nothing else happens again.

The book can be bought from Nextra Valley News, Curtis Ferry Services, Capricorn Lodge and at the Gladstone Regional Council Library.
