Bond is back tougher and ready to charm

HE has a taste for fine cars, fine women, vodka martinis and most of all, a taste for danger.

He's the secret agent moviegoers have been obsessing over since he first featured on the silver screen in 1962.

And today his latest film opens in Toowoomba.

His name? Bond, James Bond.

Skyfall is the 23rd instalment in the James Bond franchise and is already receiving glowing reviews from around the globe.

The film is the third starring English actor Daniel Craig who has brought an edgy, dirtier representation of the British Secret Service Agent to the series compared to his famed predecessors.

Despite Craig's street-fighting style, audiences can still expect all of the charm and charisma they have come to expect from agent 007.

"I think Daniel Craig does an excellent job as Bond," Birch Carroll & Coyle Grand Central assistant manager Josh Melano said after watching an advance screening earlier this week.

"I think this new film is on par with Casino Royale, if not better."

Mr Melano said Birch Carroll & Coyle would be screening Skyfall at both Grand Central and The Strand cinemas to ensure there would be plenty of seats available for fans.

The first screening will show today at 10am at Grand Central.
