BOM warn thunderstorms to hit Gladstone region in 'hours'

BOM has issued another severe thunderstorm warning to residents in the Gladstone region just after 2pm this afternoon, saying it would hit within hours. 

A BOM spokesman, however, said it would just miss Gladstone and pass to the west.

In the warning, they tell residents to brace for damaging winds and heavy rainfall. 

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that residents should: 

* Move your car under cover or away from trees. 
* Secure loose outdoor items. 
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. 
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. 
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. 
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. 
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
