Me and My Ride: Bogan Edition Holden panel van

CARL Critchley had time off over last summer, so instead of relaxing and watching the cricket, he worked full-time on his car.

For six or seven hours a day, 11 weeks straight, Critchley laboured over the 1982 Holden Panel Van trying to get it on the road.

He did it, bringing it from a rolling shell and box full of parts into his pride and joy.

He even painted it himself, with what he calls a five-step paint job.

"You walk up to it and then take five steps back. Then it looks good," he laughed.

The next step for him is to put a V8 engine into it, something he is ready to do.

It is the second car he has brought from a wreck to restored condition, the first of which was a ute a few years back.

His next will be a 1973 LJ Torana, one he plans on starting soon.

After all, he put over 400 hours into his machine, even adding some personal touched along the way.

"I found the Bogan Edition badge on the internet and thought I would stick it on there, so it is my Bogan Edition," he laughed.
