Young BMX rider hops to it in new event

MAX Hall has won a lot of BMX races in his racing career, but never before has he won a bunny hop competition.

Racing at Harbour City BMX in the March Madness event, the 11-year-old entered a competition he did not know about before it was announced.

And even when he found out about it he wasn't going to enter.

"I was very tired, so I thought about not doing it," he said.

Hall was racing two categories on the weekend, a demanding schedule especially when he was defending an unbeaten record at the March Madness event.

After winning the under-11 age group last year, Hall felt the pressure going into the event this time around.

The bunny hop competition was only another piece of proof he is on the right track with BMX.

"Sometimes we practice that in training," he said.

"I was scared and didn't think I would get over the bar."
