BMW launches 2 Series Convertible from $54,900
BMW has gone soft. The BMW 2 Series Convertible has been launched with a rag-top and prices starting from $54,900.
Featuring the first ever drop-top member of the M Performance vehicles line-up, the new BMW 2 Series Convertible is available in three petrol variants, mirroring the Coupe range, with the entry-level 220i Convertible priced from $54,900.
The 180kW, 2.0-litre 228i Convertible is available from $68,900, while the flagship M235i Convertible, boasting a 3.0-litre, straight-six powerplant, is on-sale from $85,800.
Standard specification includes alloy wheels, stability control, Driving Experience Control, auto start/stop function and ECO Pro mode, alloy wheels, rear view camera and parking sensors, cruise control with braking function and sat nav each model.
The 228i Convertible and M235i Convertible each further benefit from Bi-Xenon headlights, Variable Sport Steering, leather upholstery, BMW Individual Shadow Line (both models) or Chrome Line Exterior (228i only) and heated seats.
The roof is available in three colours as standard; black, anthracite with silver effect and brown with silver effect.
It can open or close its roof in 20 seconds and at speeds up to 50 kmh. Boot space is a reasonable 335 litres.
Getting access to the rear seat is easier with a backrest that can be folded using a lever in the luggage compartment, while the through-loading aperture width is increased from 150mm to 450mm, and height 218mm to 246mm

BMW 220i Convertible: $54,900

M235i Convertible: $85,800
Engine: 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine generating maximum power of 240kW @ 5800-6000rpm and peak torque of 450Nm @ 1300-4500rpm.

Consumption: 7.9 litres/100 kilometres (automatic, combined average).
