Blues sweat on attack to get back into series

IF THE opening ballwork session at the camp in Coffs Harbour was anything to go by, New South Wales may be planning an expansive game plan to tackle Queensland in game two of Origin in Melbourne on Wednesday night.

Parramatta's Will Hopoate has retained his place on the wing despite a quiet game one, while fellow winger Daniel Tupou was axed for Brett Morris, who made a successful return from a hamstring injury for the Bulldogs in Sunday's win over the Dragons.

The game at the MCG will be Hopoate's fourth in the NSW jumper, and he said he understood he needed to have more involvement than he did in the series opener which the Blues lost 11-10 after a late field goal.

"I'm just preparing for the best footy I can hopefully play. Probably I need more involvement, helping out through the middle (where the forwards) do such great work for us tackling and taking the hard yards," Hopoate said.

"I think on myself (in game one) I may have been stuck out on the wing a bit, so I would like to get in there more and take a few more runs.

"There is great belief here and we are confident in what we can do."

While Morris ran through some plays alongside brother Josh before the session was closed to the media, speculation suggests Blues coach Laurie Daley will play Brett Morris and Michael Jennings on the left side where Queensland created a host of opportunities at ANZ Stadium.

The good news from the first session was that hooker Robbie Farah took part and got through unscathed.

Still nursing a shoulder injury, a condition of his selection was that he complete the initial session or be replaced in the squad.
