Blue-green algae closes The Spit at Lake Somerset

THE swimming area at The Spit at Lake Somerset has been temporarily closed to swimming due to the presence of blue-green algae.

The Lake Somerset Holiday Park (off Kirkleagh Rd) remains open.

Lake Somerset remains open to paddle craft and boating, including water skiing, jet skiing and fishing.

Seqwater says the temporary closure at The Spit has been made in the interests of public safety. Recent water quality results indicate there is a high level of blue-green algae at the swimming area.

Seqwater will continue to monitor the water quality in Lake Somerset and will provide updates as conditions change.
