Blue cake a surprise on wedding day
NOT even a blue cake could spoil Rebecca and Andrew Johns' wedding day.
Friends and family travelled for up to 12 hours to gather with the couple to celebrate their intimate and simple wedding day.
It was at Gladstone's Apex Park and Rebecca said it was a beautiful day.
She said the wedding cake was supposed to be white, and so it was a bit of a surprise when they cut into a blue and rainbow cake.
"They just read the card wrong. It was more like a rainbow cake, but it's all right - we had a really good day."
The pair gathered with 65 of their closest friends and family, including their two children, Sophie-Lee, 3 and Ryley, 1.
The relaxed ceremony at the park was the perfect setting for the two to wed.
"I'm pretty sure I left my shoes on for 45 minutes - I didn't want to trip over a tree branch!" Rebecca laughed.
Rebecca wore a traditional white dress, with sequin detail on the bodice.
She bought the gown on eBay for less than $200 and has made plans for where it will go next.
"I'm going to donate it to the Angel Gowns charity.
"I'm never going to need it again, so really, it'll just be taking up room in my cupboard."
Rebecca and Andrew met four years ago through mutual friends.
They had been engaged for more than a year before tying the knot.
"He gave me an anniversary card which said 'Will you marry me?' inside it."
"We got engaged on September 13 - so we decided to have it the week after since that's a bit of an unlucky number."
