BITS Saints get serious with win over Yeppoon

A THIRD title is in the grasp of BITS Saints in the Capricornia AFL after an amazing transformation to turn around their fortunes against the hungry Yeppoon Swans.

In the major semi-final over the weekend BITS overcame a Yeppoon side that had troubled them this season. In fact, the Swans had trounced the Saints 135-33 in their last encounter.

But led by a strong game from Aaron Fabian, who kicked eight goals and took two spectacular marks, the Saints led from start to finish 115-66.

Saints ruckman Craig Shipard said the big change against the Swans was for two reasons.

"I thought the boys played for each other, and it was good to get a full side on the field," Shipard said.

Involved in each of the two premierships in 2011 and 2012, Shipard sees no reason why the Saints won't again take the crown, especially after convincingly dispatching of the second best side on the competition.

"It would be three in a row if we did is, so that would be awesome," he said.

BITS now have a week to wait before knowing who they will face in the grand final, with Glenmore and Yeppoon to battle it out.

With firepower in the boots of Fabian and Luke O'Shea, who won the leading goal kicker for the competition with 92 goals, the Saints have a lot of points in them.

The grand final is in Rockhampton on September 7.
