BITS and The Glen to battle it out in Cricket derby
CRICKET: It's a local derby clash hitting out between BITS and The Glen in the Frenchville Sports Challenge at Sun Valley Oval tomorrow.
The game starts at 12.30pm and will be played in 40-over format with teams hungry for competition points.
BITS have one win from two games played and will look to youth and experience to help guide them to another win.
The Glen had a heartbreaking narrow loss against Gracemere last weekend with only 10 players and will be keen to make amends.
BITS manager Linden Finlay said Saturday's game would be a top one with both teams after more wins.
"We have a good blend of youth and experienced players who are working hard for a successful season,” Finlay said.
"Our regular captain Terry Sawyer is away for a couple of weeks and we are working on who will be leading the side.
"After our win against Brothers, Sawyer had a good chat with the players and how they can have a good season ahead.”
One player to watch for BITS will be Nathan Cobb who hit 56 against Gracemere, including 10 fours, one six and took two for 20 off five overs bowling.
The Glen captain Dave Heymer was keen to make amends from last week's loss by fielding a full-strength team tomorrow.
"It should be a good game if we bat and bowl well and get another win for the season,” Heymer said.
"We will have a full complement, including Jason Seng and Damien Levett bowling right arm fast.”
Both teams are evenly position on the points table and a win to either side will help set up a good position in the competition.
Heymer does not want the opposition too easy.
"They have some good players in their team with the Finlay twins, Nathan Cobb and Jason Batchelor in the side,” Heymer said.
