Bird selfie these seniors won’t forget

FOR KEN Watson, taking a selfie with a tropical imported bird was one of the highlights of his trip to Cairns last month.

He, along with more than 40 other members of the National Senior's branch in Gladstone visited Bird World as part of the group's annual trip. From late night dinner cruises, walks along the esplanade, a visit to a butterfly enclosure and a drop by the Daintree, these seniors didn't waste any time on their holiday.

"I had to keep very still so I could take a picture with the bird on my shoulder," Ken said.

"But it kept hopping from shoulder to shoulder.

"It was quite a special visit, and I like birds so it was very interesting to see all the different varieties and colours."

Ken said the group had some full on days, but was glad to spend them with good friends.

"The trips are a good idea, and we all wear branch badges whenever we go on a trip to show people who we are."
