A LITTLE bird is ruffling Barbara Whitehall's feathers.

The Agnes Water resident has a bird nesting in one of her trees.

With two eggs to keep warm, the bird is going about its duties with due diligence, Mrs Whitehall said.

And the mother-of-four has the perfect perch from which to watch the nature show - her lounge, or her bed.

The charming little blue-faced honey-eater built its home in a plastic tree in Mrs Whitehall's lounge room last month.

Mrs Whitehall and her partner Norman moved the tree and its precious addition on to the patio, where the bird can come and go as she pleases.

"We've had the trees for about eight years," she said.

"She started checking out the trees about a month ago and started building the nest about a week ago.

"She laid her first egg about three days ago and number two this morning (last Friday)."

Mrs Whitehall, who has seven grandchildren and shares her home with Staffordshire terrier Ree, said she couldn't wait to welcome two more members into the family.
