Biloela man in critical condition

A 17-YEAR-OLD Biloela man is fighting for his life in hospital after the car he was a passenger in crashed in Central Queensland on Saturday.

He suffered serious head injuries and was yesterday in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Police say the car, which contained five young men, went out of control on a sharp corner, left the road and rolled several times at Valentine Plains, near Biloela at 4.20pm.

It’s the third accident in just one week which has left young Central Queenslanders fighting to recover from serious injuries and one dead.

Two of the men were ejected from the car while the other three were trapped inside.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old from Boyne Island, in Saturday’s single-vehicle accident was treated at the scene on Calvale Road for leg injuries.

His four passengers, 17, 17, 16 and 14, were all initially taken to Biloela Hospital.

The 17-year-old who suffered serious head injuries was immediately flown to Brisbane by the Royal Flying Doctor Service, while the 16-year-old was taken to Rockhampton Hospital with serious leg injuries.

The other two passengers had relatively minor injuries.

Police investigations into the crash continue and witnesses are still yet to make statements.

No further information will be released until the accident investigation squad have completed its enquiries.
