Big weekend for Bulls Masters players

CRICKET: Cricket hits fever pitch when Queensland's cricket legends arrive into Gladstone on Friday for the annual Bulls Masters tour, setting the path for more young players to reach the game's highest levels.

Adam Dale, Lee Carseldine, Chris Simpson and Ryan Broad will join Ken Healy, Chris Swann, Geoff Foley and the Bulls will play in the much-anticipated Industries of Gladstone 20-20 Cricket Challenge on Saturday and Sunday.

But they will also be busy men on Friday and Friday night.

The cricketers will visit Yarwun State School and Boyne Island State School and then will do a Suncorp Branch visit with a presentation at the BITS Golf Club on Friday.

The day will complete with Backyard Cricket Night at BITS Oval starting from 8pm through to 10pm.

Bulls Masters director Jimmy Maher, who will not be playing, says the weekend will go to an excellent cause.

""The Bulls Masters work hard to raise funds for the Cancer Council and build support for cricket in the region," Maher said.

"We are delighted to be able to play a role in building community spirit."

BITS Oval will come alight for the first time when the Bulls Masters play against a team of rising stars on Saturday from 5.45pm.
