Proof that big rigs and Aussie verse can mix together

TURKEY Beach turned the tide by proving Aussie poetry readings can mix it with the good oil off trucks, motorbikes and classic cars at its Truc-tor Bash.

The weekend event at the laid-back fishing village had a show of old John Deere and Massey Ferguson tractors (often used to launch boats) mixed with classic Fords, hot rods and a few utes courtesy of Gladstone-based Curtis Coast Cruisers car club.

Bush poet Margy McArdle read a new verse written by Mount Morgan based Mark Williamson, and Gladstone's Janine Keating (inset).
